MOUNT MERU
Overview
Mt Meru is mostly inside Arusha National Park in Tanzania. It is a 4,566 m / 14,980 ft ASL peak with approximately 3,170 m / 10,400 ft of prominence. Current routes are NON technical but the last stages on route to the summit involve some scrambling. As a peak it comes highly recommended as a doable trek for any one fit and determined.
You can do multi day treks on Mt Meru or even day trips for short hikes or extended hikes up to 4 hours.

DESCRIPTION
A shorter 3 day version of the hike to the summit of Mt Meru, the third highest peak in Tanzania, through verdant Afromontane forest into high altitude alpine desert with unparalleled views of a dormant volcano. This itinerary misses out the last night on the mountain. Instead, after summiting, the walk continues all the way back to Momella Gate.

MERU 1 DAY HIKE
WHY THIS ITINERARY?
Short on time or just feel like doing something a bit different when in Arusha? This is the perfect hike for anyone active, for families or even great for locals who want to do something a little different on the weekend. The whole hike takes around 4 to 6 hours depending on your wishes.
DESCRIPTION
A morning hike on the beautiful slopes of the incredible Mt Meru with an excursion into the crater before returning for a picnic at Kitoto View Point. This hike can be combined with an afternoon game drive to Arusha National Park before returning home.
